Where the name comes from
Manatees move up into the river through the winter for the warmer water, and the river takes its name from them. It runs east from lower Tampa Bay, past Palmetto on the north bank and Bradenton on the south.
Structure the whole way through
Docks, bridge pilings, oyster bars, spoil islands and deep channel edges, from the mouth at lower Tampa Bay right up past the Green Bridge.
What it holds
Snook, redfish and trout, with the shorelines and the structure fishing differently as the season turns.
