Why Book a Full Day Fishing Charter in Bradenton
Give a day on the water enough hours and the whole map opens up. A full day fishing charter in Bradenton can start on the inshore flats with the morning tide, run out to the ledges in the Gulf when the sea allows, and still finish with a swim at Egmont Key.
It’s the trip for people who would happily fish from breakfast until late afternoon.
Six hours or eight
Six hours is enough for two very different kinds of fishing, or for giving one target the time it needs. Plenty of groups fish inshore early, then head nearshore while the Gulf is calm.
Eight is the longest trip on the list. It allows a longer run, more spots and the patience bigger fish sometimes demand. If you want to fish nearshore properly and still enjoy the flats, eight hours covers both.
The shape of the day
Most full days begin early, while the water is flat. Charlie usually starts inshore on the best of the tide, then decides whether to run into the Gulf based on the sea and what the fish are doing. Over the ledges it becomes bottom fishing. When kingfish are around, a bait might go out on the surface too.
The afternoon has room for a snorkel, one last spot on the way in and fish cleaning back at the dock.
How far a long day reaches
Inshore, the Manatee River and lower Tampa Bay hold snook, redfish and trout all year. Around Anna Maria Island the passes and beaches add more options. Further out, the nearshore ledges and wrecks hold snapper, grouper and kingfish in season.
Egmont Key sits at the mouth of the bay. It’s a state park with an 1858 lighthouse and the ruins of Fort Dade, and the clear water around it makes a good snorkel stop on request.
Comfortable for eight hours
A long day on a boat that isn’t built for it gets old quickly. The 2021 Parker 25′ centre console has twin Yamahas for the run into the Gulf and a Deep-V hull that handles a chop far better than a skiff. There’s room to walk around and fish from every side. An EPIRB emergency beacon is aboard, and Captain Charlie Tita is a USCG licensed and insured Merchant Mariner.
Who it’s for
Experienced anglers after nearshore species. Visitors with one day to fish who want to make it count. Older kids who already love it. If your group is new to fishing or has young children, a half day is usually the better place to start, and you can always book a longer trip later in the week.
The charter is private and priced per boat, not per person, for up to six anglers.
Groups of friends often book a full day as the centrepiece of a trip, with the rest of the week built around it.
What to pack
Food is the big one. Ice, bait, bottled water and tackle are aboard, so bring lunch, snacks and any other drinks your group likes. Sunscreen you can reapply matters more over eight hours. Anyone who gets motion sick should take precautions before leaving if the plan includes the Gulf.
Torn between lengths? Our guide to half day and full day charters lays out the trade-offs.
A sample eight hours
A summer full day might start at first light on the inshore flats, chasing snook and redfish while the water is cool and the tide is moving. Mid-morning, with the Gulf flat, the boat heads out through the passes to a nearshore ledge for snapper and grouper. After lunch on board comes a snorkel stop at Egmont Key, then one last inshore spot on the way home.
That’s the ideal. Real days get adjusted to the weather and the fish, and having the time to adjust is half the point.
Why the extra hours matter
On a short trip, a slow spot costs you. On a full day there’s room to wait out a quiet tide, give a ledge a proper chance or run somewhere completely different. Bigger fish often need that patience. So do groups who want to try a bit of everything.
There’s less rushing, too. Lunch, breaks and a swim fit in without cutting into the fishing.
Planning around the season
What a full day targets depends on the time of year. Inshore fishing works in every month. Nearshore fish are seasonal, and tarpon run from May to August. Say what you’re hoping for and Charlie will suggest how to split the day for your dates.
Common questions
What if the Gulf is too rough?
Then the day stays inshore. Sheltered water can make for a very productive long day.
Can we keep the fish?
Often. Snapper and grouper are excellent eating, and many inshore fish can be kept in season within the current rules. Cleaning is included.
Is a full day too long for children?
It depends on the child. Older kids who love fishing often enjoy it, especially with a snorkel stop. There’s no minimum age, but younger children usually do better on a half day.
